Issa Kouyaté Trio
Issa Kouyaté, a kora virtuoso, singer and composer from Senegal, carries his people’s musical tradition out into the world. Born into one of the most renowned griot families, he was introduced to the art of playing the kora from a very early age. Thus, Issa grew into the role of the griot, the ‘singing storyteller’. Together with Márcio de Sousa and Joël Burkhard, they perform Issa Kouyaté’s compositions as a trio. The result is a fusion of West African tradition, Afrobeat and jazz influences.
