Star violinist Daniel Hope and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra take us on a musical journey to the United States in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. The program brings together four composers (Weill, Gershwin, Bloch, Bernstein), all of whom came to the USA as immigrants themselves or were born into immigrant families - and contributed to that vibrant ‘melting pot’. Also present: three first-class jazz musicians, Joscho Stephan, Johannes von Ballestrem and Dimitri Monstein. With their joy of playing in the spirit of the American tradition, the jazz trio provides the foundation for this journey.
