«Count Basie would have been proud of this young man.» The term "young man" refers to the pianist Chris Hopkins, and the quote comes from none other than the legendary trumpeter Harry "Sweets" Edison, who played in the band of swing pioneer Count Basie from 1937 to 1950. Born in 1972, Hopkins, who has also been compared to Duke Ellington and Teddy Wilson, is no longer young, but his swinging music has lost none of its freshness.
