Over the course of a quarter-century, there is probably no other band, that has left its mark on smooth jazz like the quartet Fourplay. The current band consists of Bob James, Chuck Loeb and Harvey Mason, three outstanding masters of crossover music. James was the in-house arranger of the trailblazing label CTI, so to speak. Loeb was taught by Pat Metheney and was a member of the band Steps Ahead. Mason has played the drums for Herbie Hancock’s Headhunters, for Barbara Steisand and James Brown, for Carlos Santana or The Notorious B.I.G. With their 2016 album, “Silverado”, Foreplay created the billboard song of the year in the category smooth jazz.
