Öcal, Wilson, Känzig

With the Turkish percussionist Burhan Öçal, the Swiss contrabassist Heiri Känzig and the British pianist Alex Wilson three crossover specialists span a musical bridge over the Bosporus. Since the beginning of his career, Öçal skillfully moves between East and West. Känzig also has a wealth of "world music" experience to draw on – among others he has performed with the Vienna Art Orchestra, Charlie Mariano and Kenny Wheeler. Wilson on the other hand is known for his affection for African music (among others he has performed with stars like Tony Allen und Hugh Masakela). Together they create a new kind of music, characterized equally by rhythmic hustle and bustle and melodious poetry.
