Rhoda Scott
Known a the “Barefoot Lady”, the famous Jazz Hammond organist Rhoda Scott (who has performed with legends such as Ray Charles and Ella Fitzgerald) has the rare ability to fully grasp the mood of her audience. Knowing over 1000 songs by heart, she is always able to vary her repertoire in the blink of an eye. As a minister’s daughter she was brought up in the classical music tradition but was also surrounded by Afro-American church music. Later on in life, she discovered jazz and was promoted by Count Basie. After her move to France she studied classical music at Nadia Boulanger.
