What a voluminous voice full of warmth and depth! Kevin Mahogany, who played a character said to be based on Jimmy Rushing and Big Joe Turner in Robert Altman's film "Kansas City", doesn't just have an impressive appearance, he is also impressive as a jazz vocalist (Mahogany was born in Kansas City in 1958). Mahogany's vocal style reminds of Billy Eckstine, Jonny Hartman or Joe Williams. He combines elegance and sensuousness, maturity and freshness. Mahogany is a master of song interpretation but also knows how to enthral his audience with his magnificent scat singing.
